Optimize PSD for Automation

1. Remove hidden folders
   1. Ungroup layers to check for hidden folders
   2. Hidden folders can be deleted off, as they are not required in the PSD file
2. Merge non-editable layers
   1. Flatten textures into shapes
3. Flatten smart objects
   1. Hero images are usually given in smart object files - can be accessed by clicking on the smart object file icon
   2. The smart object file opens up into another PSD file - Copy the image onto the main file
   3. Place image onto the mask shape and resize as required, once placed - delete off the smart vector file.
   4. The same steps could be repeated for any smart object layers including smart object text layers
4. (Optional) Rename Layers
   1. This is done for ease of use. Save the file with renamed layers before import.
